The Department of Communication at Baylor University seeks a faculty member to teach courses and work in The Glenn R. Capp Debate Forum as our Assistant Debate Coach. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position. Our department values excellence in teaching, coaching, research, and service. The Glenn R. Capp Debate Forum has a long history of excellence in policy debate. This is primarily a teaching and coaching position, but research is encouraged. 

This appointment begins in August 2023. Candidates should have a record of excellence in classroom instruction or demonstrate potential for outstanding teaching. The desired candidate will teach foundational courses in public speaking and argumentation and debate, along with the possibility of teaching upper-level courses in their area of specialty. 

Candidates should have prior policy experience as both a debater and coach at the university level. The preferred candidate will have assigned coaching duties in our debate program that include argument construction, critiquing practice rounds, judging, and traveling with our undergraduate debaters to intercollegiate debate tournaments. The preferred candidate must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to obtain authorization to drive on behalf of Baylor University A minimum of a completed M.A. in Communication is required for this position.
