Description

Our Renewables team is rapidly growing, and we are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Houston, TX who will focus on all aspects of Electrical Engineering design and construction activities for utility-scale renewables projects (wind, solar, and energy storage) throughout the US.

The Senior Engineer will serve as an electrical subject matter expert and will collaborate with various internal departments and external partners on all aspects of a project’s lifecycle (development, construction, and operations). 

This position will be based in Houston, TX. Remote locations to be considered.

What you’ll do:

  • Support development of technical specifications for High Voltage systems, Medium Voltage Systems, Substations, and AC/DC Electrical Collection Systems for project detailed designs and construction/execution by various contractors
  • Evaluate potential project locations for site suitability, based on the site’s Transmission and Interconnection specifics and other relevant electrical characteristics to inform renewable project designs
  • Assist the design leads of substations and collection systems for Wind, Solar, and Energy Storage projects
  • Perform relevant calculations and other Electrical Engineering related tasks throughout the design and construction process
  • Open to learning Project Engineering skills by exposure to other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, structural, etc.) to achieve the highest level of engineering and design for project execution
  • Assist procurement in running RFPs and managing the installation, and engineering/technical sub-contractors
  • Remain up-to-date on new technologies and regulatory conditions including utility requirements, vendor qualifications, industry best practices, safety standards, and relevant standards development
  • Travel to perform site assessments and due diligence of fieldwork throughout the USA in support of site evaluation, project earthworks, and construction activities


Requirements

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable technical knowledge through demonstrated work experience with a solid understanding of electrical design, power generation plants, and/or utility systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar positions, with experience designing electrical systems for renewable energy projects and producing standards, specifications, and documentation
  • Proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD is preferred
  • Experienced in the day-to-day interactions with project development and construction teams is highly preferred
  • PE License not required but preferred
  • PMI Certification not required is preferred
  • Above average verbal and written communication
  • Exhibits attention to detail and strong organizational skills
